The Inclusion and Accessibility in Educational Assessment SIG (IAEA) is dedicated to advancing research, policy, and practice related to the inclusion of all students in educational assessment. Our work focuses on English learners, students with disabilities, English learners with disabilities, and other students with accessibility needs. We are committed to promoting fairness, expanding educational opportunities, and supporting students’ readiness for college, careers, and community participation.
Our SIG brings together students, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers who share a passion for creating more inclusive and accessible assessment systems. As we look ahead to the 2027 AERA Annual Meeting in Toronto, we are exploring new ways to connect and engage with members throughout the year - not just during the conference. We hope to foster meaningful conversations, share emerging ideas, and strengthen professional relationships before we gather in person. One way to stay connected is through our LinkedIn forum, where members can exchange resources, discuss current issues in the field, and learn about opportunities of interest to the community. We will also email announcements that highlight additional SIG activities and other ways to connect.
As preparations begin for AERA 2027, we look forward to hosting engaging paper sessions and roundtables that showcase innovative research and practice. We encourage members to submit proposals, volunteer as reviewers, and participate in the conversations that shape our field. We are also proud to sponsor an annual Best Paper Award recognizing outstanding scholarship that demonstrates excellence in research methodology and execution while advancing inclusion and accessibility in educational assessment. We encourage researchers at all career stages to submit their work for consideration.
We welcome your ideas, feedback, and resources. Join our SIG and help us build a vibrant, connected community throughout the year. Please also invite colleagues and students who share an interest in inclusive and accessible educational assessment. Be on the lookout for additional ways to connect throughout the year.
Thank you for your interest in IAEA. We look forward to connecting with you!
