Welcome to the Science Teaching and Learning (STL) SIG! Our SIG is a vibrant community of researchers, teacher educators, classroom practitioners, curriculum developers, graduate students, and policymakers who are committed to advancing research that improves science teaching and learning across diverse educational settings.
The STL SIG provides a collaborative space for scholars and practitioners to share innovative research, engage in thoughtful dialogue, and critically examine the theories, practices, and policies that shape science education. We welcome a wide range of methodological and theoretical perspectives and encourage conversations that deepen our understanding of teaching, learning, equity, justice, identity, curriculum, assessment, and teacher development in science education.
As a community, we believe that high-quality science education research has the power to inform practice, influence policy, and create more meaningful and equitable learning opportunities for all students. Through our conference programming, mentoring opportunities, awards, and year-round engagement, we strive to support both emerging and established scholars while fostering connections across disciplines and educational contexts.
Whether you are a long-standing member or joining us for the first time, we invite you to actively participate in the conversations, collaborations, and community that make the STL SIG such a dynamic and welcoming home within AERA. Together, we can continue advancing research that strengthens science teaching and learning for all.
I look forward to connecting with you throughout the year.
