The Experiential Education and Community Engagement: Scholarship and Practice SIG is dedicated to bringing together both scholars and practitioners (inclusive of graduate students, community partners, staff, faculty, and administrators) to build and promote understandings of experiential education and critical community engagement (teaching, learning, and research) for the betterment of K-16+ education and communities in the U.S. and abroad.

SIG 41 is committed to highlighting high-impact research and practices, including conceptual understandings, of experiential education and critical community engagement from across a range of disciplines at the AERA Annual Meeting and through other mediums.

The purposes of SIG 41 are:

  1. To support members in their research agendas by providing opportunities for scholars and practitioners to share current research and practices through presentations at the Annual Meeting and through various other mediums.
  2. To keep members informed about current scholarship related to experiential learning and critical community engagement.
  3. To provide opportunities for members to collaborate through emails/ listservs, social media, our website, and other outlets.
