To our SIG members and friends:

We are looking forward to a great program for the Grassroots Community and Youth Organizing SIG at the 2019 AERA Annual Meeting in Toronto, April 5-9.  The theme of the annual meeting is:  "Leveraging Education Research in a Post-Truth Era: Multimodal Narratives to Democratize Evidence."

We are excited about our off-site session (RE)Imagine, Believe, (CO)create: TDSB School Resource Officer-free and Beyond! April 7. 1 - 4 pm. University of Toronto, OISE. 252 Bloor St. West, Rm 2-205.  Come hear from coalition organizational leaders who pushed for, and succeeded in removing School Resource Officers from the Toronto District School Board--the largest in Canada. Participants will learn about ongoing grassroots efforts to seek educational and racial justice in Toronto. We will also discuss cross-country collaborative work, and the U.S push for police-free schools! Co-Sponsored by Latinx, Afro-Latin-America, Abla Yala Education Network (LAEN), Black Lives Matter Toronto Freedom School, Alliance for Educational Justice, Centre for Integrative Anti-racism Studies, SURJ Toronto, Grassroots Community Youth Organizing SIG. To RSVP, Click here.

We also encourage you to join us for our SIG business meeting on SATURDAY, April 6, 6:35 PM to 8:05 PM. Metro Toronto Convention Centre, 200 Level, Room 205A   The meeting will feature our Jean Anyon and Early Career Award winners.
