In a jointly signed June 29 letter, AERA, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and expert scientists urged the National Science Foundation to include sexual orientation and gender identity measures in the 2021 National Survey of College Graduates and other future surveys conducted by NSF’s National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics. Read more

 
 
Study: News Reports of Education “Achievement Gaps” May Perpetuate Stereotypes of Black Americans

A new study finds that TV news reporting about racial achievement gaps led viewers to report exaggerated stereotypes of Black Americans as lacking education and may have increased implicit stereotyping of Black students as less competent than White students. Read more
