About the Event
With 2014 and 2015 marking major anniversaries of landmark moments in the American struggle for equality—the 60th anniversary of Brown, the 50th anniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the sesquicentennial of the 13th Amendment, and the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965—Anderson’s address examines how the constitutional framing of the equality of political power in the Reconstruction era casts a long shadow over American social justice today and continues to shape the pursuit of all forms of equality.
