Important Change:
Annual Meeting Programs
will be distributed on-site only

Starting with the 2007 Annual Meeting, the printed Annual Meeting program will no longer be mailed to preregistrants in advance. The program will be available on the American Educational Research Association’s (AERA) Web site in February in electronic searchable and PDF formats, with all of the enhancements and special features that have evolved over recent years. All preregistrants and on-site registrants will pick up the printed program on-site at the Registration Hall.

AERA Council made this decision at its June 2006 meeting in anticipation of the forthcoming Annual Meeting (see Council minutes, published in the October 2006 issue of Educational Researcher). In deciding to discontinue the mailing of the printed programs in advance of the Annual Meeting, the AERA Council considered the following concerns: (a) An increasing number of preregistrants use the searchable online program to create personal schedules; (b) only approximately 55% of preregistrants receive the printed program in the mail because of the need to mail it in February, before many preregistrants register; and (c) the cost of the mailing has become very high because of the program’s increase in size and weight and the increase in postage. Council was mindful of the general technology and access issues and determined that computer access has become widely available among potential attendees. Council decided that if registrants did want printed programs in advance, they could request them through the Central Office but would need to pay for shipping. Requests should be sent to amprogram@aera.net no later than February 28, 2007.
