Organization of Institutional Affiliates (OIA)

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Organization of Institutional Affiliates (OIA) is to provide information about federal education research issues, people, and events not readily available from other sources, and to enhance opportunities for OIA members to be engaged in shaping policy with regard to significant research issues.

MEMBERSHIP

OIA is open to all education research institutions or associations. Current membership includes representatives from many leading schools of education, as well as non-university based research institutions, and professional associations.  Each OIA member institution represented receives multiple copies of the Research Policy Notes, and may send as many representatives as desired to the Annual Fall Policy Meeting (summary of the 2012 meeting is available here).  The modest annual membership dues help cover the cost of the fall meeting, for which no registration or materials fees are charged.

HISTORY

A Brief History of the Origins of the Organization of Institutional Affiliates (OIA) and the Government Relations (GR) Program within AERA provides an overview of the development of OIA and its relationship to the work of AERA's Government Relations program.
