Email Newsletter November 2022

Dear Educational Change SIG Members,

We made it just under the wire for November! Between the conference and family travel - I am not sure what end is up or down for that matter. I am sure however we are nearing the frenetic close to the semester and I wish everyone the best as they make it to the winter holiday finish line.

We have a new Lead the Change, the recording of our RPP event, and a job posting!

First, this month’s Lead the Change is with Dr. Whitneé L. Garrett-Walker, an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership, Policy and Social Diversity at the Ontario institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. She speaks to issues of co-conspiratorship, justice, and critical hope.  Enjoy!

Video from SIG sponsored event on Research Practice Partnerships

  • Caitlin Christine Farrell -  Associate Research Professor UColorado-Boulder, Director of the National Center of Research in Policy and Practice
  • Rosa Ramirez Richter -  Director of Partnerships and Engagement at the UChicago Consortium on School Research
  • Elizabeth A Zumpe - Assistant Professor UMass Lowell, key member of a seven-year RPP with a high-poverty California school district, funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation
  • Wiliam Penuel - Distinguished Professor UColorado Boulder, Director National Center for Research in Policy and Practice

JOB POSTINGS

Mike Moses Endowed Chair in Educational Leadership

The Department of Teacher Education and Administration (TE&A) in the College of Education at The University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for the Mike Moses Endowed Chair in Educational Leadership, beginning in the Fall 2023. This is an appointment at the rank of Full Professor with tenure in the Educational Leadership (EDLE) program. The successful candidate will join Educational Leadership faculty who interact with undergraduate, master's, and doctoral-level students and support their efforts to become educational leaders, educational policymakers, and academic researchers in both areas. The EDLE program includes a dynamic and nationally recognized Master of Education program (with the opportunity to obtain the Texas principal as instructional leadership certification); Doctoral of Education program (with the opportunity to obtain a Texas superintendent certification); and Doctor of Philosophy program. Of particular interest to the College of Education are candidates who are committed to improving people's lives through powerful learning, social-emotional wellness, physical health, civic engagement, and who have a record demonstrating commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice. University of North Texas is a Tier One Research University in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex - the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the United States. UNT is among a very few universities to be a Research 1 University and also a Minority-Serving Institution (MSI) and a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI).
