The purpose of the SIG is to provide a forum for presentation, discussion, and interaction related to the development of theoretically based and empirically testable instruments with objective linear measures. Pursuant to these purposes the SIG might elect to publish its own journal (with the approval of the Association) or newsletter, or hold occasional conferences supplementing AERA meetings.
