Hope your summer is going well. On behalf of the AERA CTBE Executive Committee, we are writing to invite you to participate as a mentee and connect with experienced senior scholars.
In our academic journey, having a mentor makes a huge difference in our professional life. Mentors can provide mentees guidance, support, networking, and encouragement to help mentees develop in positive and healthy ways. Mentors can help encourage positive choices, promote high self-esteem, support academic achievement, and introduce new ideas.
In order to create an encouraging community among generations of scholars, the Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism and Education (CTBE) SIG at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) takes great pleasure in announcing that the Emergent Scholar Mentoring (EMS) Program starting January 2024. The purpose of this mentoring program is to provide emergent scholars who are members of CTBE SIG of AERA with an opportunity to receive mentoring and advice from experienced and accomplished senior scholars and to begin developing professional relationships with current and future scholars within the education field.
We are inviting you to participate in this program as a potential mentee. If you are interested in participating in this program, please follow the steps below to apply.
1.Fill out the AERA CTBE Mentee Application Form. If you have trouble opening google form, please click: https://www.wjx.top/vm/e6wI8TU.aspx#
2.Email 1) your CV, and 2) your application letter of interest to our SIG secretary Dr. Jason Cong Lin at jasonlin@zju.edu.cn, and our SIG Chair Dr. Denting Boynton at dengting@sas.upenn.edu. Your application letter should be a maximum of 500 words including 1) A short general statement indicating your interest in participating as a mentor or mentee, 2) A brief description of your research interests, and 3) a potential research topic or project that you would like to launch or participate in.
The CTBE Mentoring Committee will review your application and liaise with mentors. A limited number of mentors (a maximum of 30 of each) will be selected for participation. Notifications of virtual interview will be sent out to selected qualified mentees by January 26th, 2024.
