Educating Teacher Educators
Position: We are seeking a colleague who will take a leadership role in the development of a new focus, in our Ed.D. program, on Educating Teacher Educators and who will engage in transformational scholarship in teacher education from a curricular perspective as part of our efforts to re-imagine teacher education in the 21st Century. This individual will play a leading role in the Department and the College’s ongoing efforts to respond to the changing landscape for teachers and teacher education, while honoring our longstanding commitments to diversity, urban education, and university-school collaboration.
Qualifications: Earned doctorate, with focus on teacher education and/or curriculum. Established record of research and scholarship. Experience teaching at the elementary or middle school level. Demonstrated excellence in teaching, especially as a university-based teacher educator. Additional areas of expertise could include teacher learning, learning and assessment, standards, teacher evaluation, curriculum theory, and mixed-method research design.
Responsibilities: In addition to his or her responsibilities in the Ed.D. program, this individual will teach in the M.A. elementary professional-certification (in-service) program. Additional responsibilities include advising masters and doctoral students; mentoring doctoral-level teacher educators; participating in departmental and College-wide committees, such as the Teacher Education Policy Committee; engaging in cross-departmental collaboration focused on teacher education; and engaging actively in research and other forms of scholarship.
