NOMINATIONS FOR SIG OFFICERS: This coming year, we will have elections for our next Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer. Descriptions of the positions are below. All interested SIG members are encouraged to submit nominations by October 25, 2026, using this link. 

 Chair

Number of Vacancies: 1

Term Length: 2 years

Position Description: The Chair shall be responsible for the general administration of the SIG, for ensuring that the SIG Bylaws are followed, and shall act as liaison between the SIG and AERA and the SIG and the SIG Executive Committee. The Chair shall preside at all meetings of the SIG’s Executive Committee and at the Annual Business Meeting. The Chair shall act as parliamentarian or shall appoint a SIG member to serve in that role for each meeting. The Chair shall appoint ad hoc committees as needed. The Chair of the SIG shall appoint persons to assist officers, to chair committees, or to carry out other work of the SIG.

Secretary

Number of Vacancies: 1

Term Length: 1 year

Position Description: The Secretary shall keep minutes of business meetings; publish the minutes of SIG business meetings; publish notifications, including news releases and reports; recruit and communicate with regional representatives; and coordinate membership initiatives.

Treasurer

Number of Vacancies: 1

Term Length: 1 year

Position Description: The Treasurer shall maintain the fiscal records of the SIG; prepare financial reports; prepare the annual budget in consultation with the SIG officers; and oversee reimbursement for stipends and meeting expenses.

Note: The SIG will also need to appoint a Program Chair for 2027-2028.
