AERA Arts & Learning SIG

2025  Outstanding Achievement in Arts & Learning Award Call

The AERA Arts & Learning SIG Awards Committee invites entries for the annual Outstanding Achievement in Arts & Learning Award. The award will be presented at a business meeting of the A&L SIG at the Annual Meeting of AERA.

CRITERIA

The award will be presented annually to scholars whose collected body of work has made a substantive contribution to the field of Arts and Learning, as evidenced through:

publications;

presentations of scholarly work (academic and/or professional conferences); and

when relevant, supplementary creative work related to the scholar’s research.

ELIGIBILITY

Nominees must have developed a body of work that has made a substantive contribution to the field of Arts and Learning. Nominees may be at any stage in their career; this is not intended as a lifetime achievement award (though senior scholars are eligible to receive it). Membership in AERA and the SIG is not required to be nominated or to be a recipient of an award.

NOMINATION PROCESS

Nominators should submit the following items to the A&L Awards Chair:

1.The nominee’s curriculum vitae

2.A one-page letter explaining why the nominator feels the nominee is an excellent candidate for the award.

The Awards Chair will compile the nominations and facilitate the review process.

REVIEW PROCESS

The award committee consists of three members of the AERA Arts & Learning SIG, selected by the Awards Chair. The jurors will assess the collected body of work of each nominee, considering if each nominee has made a substantive contribution to the field of Arts and Learning. Evidence of such a contribution should take the form of the award criteria (above).

DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS

The deadline for nominations is October 31st, 2024
