| Abstract: |
This study presents the first national analysis of trends in homeless students with disabilities enrolled in U.S. public schools. Using annual homeless student enrollment data records collected nationally from 2013 to 2020, our analyses show that the total number of homeless students with disabilities has steadily increased. The relative risk of experiencing homelessness for students with disabilities compared to students without disabilities has also increased over the past seven years (risk ratio = 1.30 to 1.41). Risk difference and raw differential representation further demonstrate higher rates of homelessness among students with disabilities.
Keywords: Homeless students with disabilities, special education, disproportionality, national trend, descriptive analysis, secondary data analysis.
