Abstract: |
A secondary dataset will be used to examine the relationships among personality, authoritarian beliefs and teacher quality in a group of early childhood education teachers. Teacher quality will be indicated by dimensions of CLASS, an observational instrument to capture teacher-student interactions. Structural equation modeling was adopted to examine the direct and indirect effect of personality traits through authoritarian beliefs on teacher quality. Results revealed significant contributions of agreeableness and conscientiousness to authoritarian beliefs, and direct influence of conscientiousness and extraversion on teacher-student interactions. Authoritarian beliefs also showed a significant effect on teacher-student interactions.
