| Abstract: |
Limited study has been conducted on the effect of the pandemic upon academic learning among deaf students. We used Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) scores in reading from three residential schools for the deaf in different parts of the country. The data cover grades 3 to 12 every fall and spring from 2016 to 2022. Summer loss and the pandemic effects varied for different demographic groups and students’ educational backgrounds. Students who had spent more time in these residential schools performed differently from students who enrolled at the school at a later time. These findings have implications for understanding how the impact of pandemic may vary.
