Sparked by the experience of reading Celestial Bodies (Alharthi, 2018) in translation, this paper is dedicated to attending to the transformative ethical potentiality of literary disruption. The methodological form of this project is experimental and leans towards “post qualitative inquiry” (St. Pierre, 2017, 2019 & 2021). In taking up philosophical concerns related to our relationship with unquantifiable concepts such as being, belonging, representation, truth, and responsibility, this project struggled to find a pathway via established social science research designs, processes, or methods. In their stead, loosely following Arendt’s (2018) concept of "thinking without banisters," the study aims to disrupt the hegemony of existing systems of thought and reframe/reorient understandings of the world for an education fit for an uncertain future.
