Abstract: Co-designing lesson activities with teachers is hypothesized to support more effective interventions as it accounts for their learning goals and context. However, even when co-designed, teachers make adaptations to interventions to increase usability in their classrooms. In our study, we compare the co-design and implementation of a playful learning intervention called Blinded to identify how teachers within a school district adapt our design to fit their classroom. Our findings highlight three cases where the design adaptations were different between co-design and implementation teachers. The comparison of these adaptations informs future iterations of the Blinded intervention and contributes to the field by highlighting how teachers’ positionality and viewpoints impact what they contribute to design research.
