| Abstract: |
Teacher education regularly finds itself situated in policy contexts with numerous calls to reform teacher education, teacher practice, and student outcomes. The internship is often raised in policy discussions as an arena where teacher education can leverage improvements in teacher practice and student learning. The internship in this study takes place in a state aiming to upend usual ways of engaging in educational policy and practice in its public schools in the name of equity and excellence. Aligning with these policy goals, our redesigned internship endeavors for more collaborative, intentional relationships between mentor teachers, interns, the university, and school districts. We share details about development and implementation of our internship and its potential implications for teacher development and practice.
