| Abstract: |
This study aims to expand and deepen international and U.S. university students’ and faculty’s understandings of issues related to white supremacy, anti-Blackness, xenophobia, racism, and ethnocentrism as understood by Asian international students. Taking an AsianCrit lens, the researchers document how some Asian international students experience the curriculum/instruction in U.S. graduate classrooms that are oriented toward racial/ethnic equity. They argue that the racial/ethnic equity-related concepts taught in the U.S graduate classroom are often novel to Asian international students and very U.S-contextually based so Asian students report feeling outside and wondering how to participate. The long-term project of the researchers is to collate and analyze curricular resources that help to bring Asian international students into university conversations about racial/ethnic equity-related issues.
