Abstract: This research explores what being a literacy teacher encompasses in the 21st century. This qualitative study illustrates how teachers understand literacies and design literacy-based, engaging curricula. Guided by New Literacies perspectives, multimodal teaching and learning will also be investigated. Exploring how these participating educators enact literacies in the classroom and in their own pedagogies creates space for re-imagining how education is conducted in our linguistically and culturally diverse classrooms and schools.
