| Abstract: |
The popularization of design thinking (DT) as a practice across multiple disciplines raises questions about how it is taught and its possible impacts on education. This paper attends to this under-researched area of DT in teacher education by mapping trajectories of change among pre-service teachers tasked with facilitating DT workshops for secondary school students in an Asian educational environment. The study offers a window into how pre-service teachers, who are not trained as designers, incorporate DT into their own repertoire of skills, and in turn reflect their learning across their entire practice as teachers. Findings suggest important lessons for teacher education and contribute to a wider discussion on nurturing a 21st century teaching force for an increasingly unpredictable future.
