Abstract: |
The aim of this study was to conduct a multidimensional model for coping competence and, on this basis, to develop a nursing-specific instructional unit to foster the coping competence of prospective nurses in school. Since there is a lack of stress management trainings for prospective nurses, we systematically analyzed extent stress management trainings and conducted curricular analyses to develop a learning situation that was validated by experts from science and practice. On this basis, we designed twelve activity-oriented lessons, which were reviewed by teachers. The instructional unit refers to different approaches of coping, promotes coping flexibility as an important part of coping competence, and was successfully conducted in ten schools in Germany.
