| Abstract: |
Teacher shortages are hindering Michigan’s efforts to ensure students' equitable access to qualified teachers. Teacher-oriented supports—policies, practices, or programs—may increase retention and alleviate shortages. This study informs those efforts by identifying teacher supports that are associated with teacher retention. We have completed this study but cannot share findings until they are released by study's funder (September 2021). In the presentation, we will describe the teacher retention landscape in Michigan including teacher- and district-level characteristics associated with retention. We will also share results of a survey on teachers' awareness and perceptions of teacher supports in their district. Most of the presentation will focus on the results of multilevel regression models that show associations between district supports and teacher retention.
