This two-part study aimed to document the perspectives of school-based speech-language pathologists (SLPs) on the telepractice service delivery model and to pilot a scale of SLP knowledge and self-efficacy for telepractice. Focus group methods were used to gather input from SLPs sourced from multiple states in the United States. Qualitative analysis for thematic content produced four major themes from the focus group sessions. A scale for SLP Telepractice knowledge and self-efficacy (KASE) was developed. Initial quantitative analyses of the KASE scale reflect alignment with hypotheses regarding the relation among SLPs’ knowledge and self-efficacy for telepractice, as well as the relation among general and specific forms of self-efficacy. The findings have important implications for school systems and training programs.
