Adult learning is emphasized to equip workers to meet the changing demands of technology at work. Yet, low participation was observed, and the rate varies across countries. This paper explores the different social-demographic, work and life-related, and adult learning factors that are related to problem-solving skill in the technology-rich environment (PS-TRE). Particularly, this study examines the influence of adult learning participation on PS-TRE competency based on the survey data from the Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC). The findings showed adult learning does not necessarily influence performance on PS-TRE. Our analysis shows the learning predictors only improved the model significantly for USA and Singapore but not Finland and Korea. Some possible reasons and implications are discussed.
