Abstract: Whereas numerous studies have examined the effects of mindfulness on practicing teachers' wellness, little is known about the effects mindfulness practices have on preservice teachers. This study explored whether a modified Koru mindfulness intervention led to improved wellness outcomes for early grades preservice teachers. This study also investigated the extent to which participants implemented the Koru intervention with fidelity and were satisfied with the intervention. Findings indicated that participants were satisfied with the intervention and implemented it with high levels of fidelity. Koru significantly reduced participants’ stress and anxiety scores; however, mindfulness scores did not significantly change. Results suggest that a modified mindfulness intervention can support mental wellness and can be successfully integrated into the busy lives of preservice teachers.
