| Abstract: |
This paper applies a spatial lens to interpreting general education teachers’ perceptions of special education and inclusion. Interviews with veteran high school teachers reveal perspectives that prioritize visible, invisible, and unrecognized constructions of school spaces. This project hopes to contribute to growing conversations about the meanings teachers make of school spaces and the subsequent possibilities for understanding and addressing patterns of inequity in students' experiences. Furthermore, this project aims to extend the breadth of qualitative empirical data to spatial theories as applied to special education.
