AERA Releases New Book on Early Childhood Research, Forging Connections across Early Education, Child Development, and Child Care

December  2020

The new AERA volume Advancing Knowledge and Building Capacity for Early Childhood Research is now available for purchase. Edited by Sharon Ryan, M. Elizabeth Graue, Vivian L. Gadsden, and Felice J. Levine, this multidisciplinary collection illuminates the education of young children from a range of scholarly perspectives. The editors aimed “to forge new connections in early childhood research across arenas of inquiry that have been largely freestanding in terms of communities of scholars, journals, research training programs, and mechanisms of funding.”

Among the pressing concerns addressed in this volume are developmentally appropriate math learning, improving assessments to capture more of children’s knowledge and skills, equitable opportunity for dual language learners, teacher training to cultivate children’s learning through conversation, and scaling-up of effective preschool education. The table of contents can be viewed here.

AERA members may purchase the volume at deep discounts through January 15. It is available in paperback, eBook, and paperback/eBook bundle formats. The book is also available at affordable prices to nonmembers, who are encouraged to review and purchase this important new volume.
