Overview
The Annual Meeting of the American Educational Research Association – the largest gathering of scholars in the field of education research – is a showcase for ground-breaking, innovative studies in a diverse array of areas – from early education through higher education, from digital learning to second language literacy. It is where to encounter ideas and data that will shape tomorrow’s education practices and policies, and where to connect with leading thinkers from the United States and around the world. The theme of this year’s meeting is “The Power of Education Research for Innovation in Practice and Policy.”
The program includes more than 2,000 sessions – including major addresses, panel discussions, and research paper presentations – on the biggest issues and trends in education research, including:
- Education reform
- College access and success
- Teacher and principal evaluation
- Impact of housing and neighborhoods on education outcomes
- Common Core State Standards
- College mismatch
- Urban education
- Universal preschool
- The role of foundations in education research
- And much more
Speakers and session participants range from University of Virginia President Teresa Sullivan and former Pennsylvania Governor and Philadelphia Mayor Ed Rendell, to Carnegie Foundation President Anthony Bryk and leading education scholars such as Angela Duckworth, Linda Darling-Hammond, William Schmidt, and Sean Reardon, among many others.
