Proof of Vaccination and Masking Required to Attend in San Diego

As part of the entry requirements for the 2022 AERA Annual Meeting, all attendees must have UP TO DATE VACCINATION (including booster if eligible) to attend in person. AERA Council reviewed this policy at its meeting on February 4-5, 2022, and reaffirmed that the masking requirement will remain in place through the entire meeting. All attendees must wear a mask in all Annual Meeting venues.

On April 1, AERA transitioned from CLEAR to SafeAccess as the vendor for responsibility for confirming the vaccination status of on-site attendees with U.S. vaccination cards and non-U.S. vaccination cards.

On-site attendees who HAVE NOT already registered with CLEAR WILL need to take the following steps to register with SafeAccess before they arrive in San Diego. On-site attendees who HAVE already registered with CLEAR WILL NOT need to take any further action. You will show your CLEAR vaccination confirmation status on site in San Diego.

To register with SafeAccess:
1. Accept the personalized invitation to Safe Access that you received via email on April 1. If you did not receive an email, please check your spam folder/filter.
2. Set up a password for your security and privacy.
3. View the health and safety policies and provide your responses, which may include document uploads for verification.

Once you have completed the above steps, you will receive a message that will say “pending” (if documents need to be reviewed), or “granted” (if no reviews are necessary). Please allow 1-2 business days for records to be reviewed in our system. There is no app to download. You will receive a Digital Health Pass via email when your review has been completed. You can return to the site at any time to check your status by clicking here: SafeAccess and tap on “BADGE” or “STATUS.” Your data are stored in a secure, HIPAA-compliant cloud service, and will not be used for any purpose other than as required by AERA 2022 Annual Meeting.

No attendee will be admitted to AERA meeting areas without a vaccination verification. To avoid delays on site, all attendees are urged to verify now, well before traveling to San Diego.

We appreciate your patience during the health and safety process and thank you for doing your part to keep your event safe for all attendees.

Additional Information for Place-Based Attendees with Non-U.S. Vaccination Cards

According to the U.S. State Department, all international air travelers to the United States will be required to be FULLY VACCINATED and to provide proof of vaccination status prior to boarding an airplane to fly to the United States, with only limited exceptions.

The CDC has determined that for the purposes of entry into the United States, vaccines accepted will include those FDA approved or authorized, as well as vaccines with an emergency use listing (EUL) from the World Health Organization (WHO). See the State Department's website or CDC's website for more details.

Additionally, before boarding a flight to the United States, air travelers aged two and older, regardless of nationality or vaccination status, are required to show documentation of a negative viral test result taken within one day of the flight’s departure. You must show your negative result to the airline before you board your flight. That includes all travelers – U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (LPRs), and foreign nationals.

If you recently recovered from COVID-19, you may instead travel with documentation of recovery from COVID-19 (i.e., your positive COVID-19 viral test result on a sample taken no more than 90 days before the flight’s departure from a foreign country, and a letter from a licensed healthcare provider or a public health official stating that you were cleared to travel).

The CDC recommends that once international travelers are in the U.S., they:
