The Politics of Possibility: Advancing Educational Equity for the Social Good

Join Division L for a four-part national webinar series co-hosted by the Black Education Research Center (BERC) and the Gordon Institute for Advanced Study (GIAS) at Teachers College, Columbia University in partnership with American Education Research Association (AERA) Division L: Educational Policy & Politics and the Nellie Mae Education Foundation.

This series, moderated by Division L Vice President and BERC Founder and Director Sonya Douglass and GIAS Director Ezekiel Dixon-Román, will convene researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to examine ongoing federal actions on education and their implications for knowledge production, equity, and democracy. Together, we will envision what it means to reclaim education for the social good.

The first episode—featuring Drs. Peggy Carr (2021-2025 Commissioner for the National Center for Education Statistics), Linda Darling-Hammond (Chief Knowledge Officer of the Learning Policy Institute) and Pedro A. Noguera (Dean of the University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education) will take place at 1pm ET / 10am PT on October 21, 2025. We hope you will be part of this critical conversation.
