AERA Launches Virtual Research Learning Center
AERA has announced the launch of a Virtual Research Learning Center (VRLC) starting in 2013. The purpose of the center is to offer, in virtual space, education and training related to education research for wide audiences of scholars, researchers, and others who use and develop research both nationally and worldwide.  Read more

AERA Releases New Research Handbook on Environmental Education
Earlier this month, AERA announced the publication of the International Handbook of Research on Environmental Education, a book with 102 contributors from six continents and 15 countries. The idea for the book emanated from the Environmental Education Special Interest Group. Read more

New Directors Join AERA
AERA has hired two new directors, John Neikirk and Tony Pals, to join the professional team working to advance the Association’s goals in light of its mission as a research organization. Read more

Senate Group Addresses Need for Researchers to Remain in United States
On January 28, a new bipartisan senate group released a draft framework that could lead to legislation supportive of MA and PhD STEM graduates continuing to work in the U.S. after graduation from U.S. institutions. Read more

In January, the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) released the report Designing a Digital Future: Federally Funded Research and Development in Networking and Information Technology. Read more

American Anthropological Association Names Liebow Executive Director
Liebow plans to turn more attention to the trend in nonacademic jobs and to the plight of adjunct professors, in addition to “shoring up the group's publishing operations.” Read more
