To our SIG members and friends:

We are looking forward to a great program for the Grassroots Community and Youth Organizing SIG at the 2018 AERA Annual Meeting in New York City, April 13-April 18.  The theme of the annual meeting is:  The Dreams, Possibilities, and Necessity of Public Education.

We are excited about our off-site session at City-As-School High School on Saturday, April 14th, 1-3pm, 16 Clarkson St, #401, New York, NY 10014.  The session brings together scholars, policymakers, activists, and young people to discuss “ Organizing Principles, Practices, Tensions, & Breakthroughs When Teaching for Justice: What Educators Can Learn from NYC Human Rights Schools & CEJ ” Scroll down below for more information. We also encourage you to join us for our SIG business meeting on Saturday evening the 14th, 6:15pm-7:45pm in the New York Marriott Marquis, Seventh Floor, Harlem.  The meeting will feature youth participatory action research.

We also invite you to come see the documentary The Long View, a GCYO documentary that will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 10:30am until 12:30/1pm at the New York Hilton, Midtown, 3rd floor, Grand Ballroom, West Foyer.
