The AERA Interactive Presentation Gallery is now open for viewing the presentations of more than 430 papers accepted for the 2020 AERA Annual Meeting. The gallery is a place to discover new research, contact authors, and explore interactive web-based posters—many with narration. Authors can set up chats and video meetings through their platform of choice within the gallery.
The gallery was created after the cancellation of the 2020 AERA Annual Meeting. The association at that time recognized the importance of shifting “from a meeting only offering place-based content to an all-year-round opportunity to connect authors with other researchers interested in their work,” said AERA Executive Director Felice J. Levine.
AERA’s gallery and the AERA Online Paper Repository are companion products that offer accessible ways of finding current work before papers and presentations move to publication.
The research presented in the gallery covers a variety of methodologies—qualitative, quantitative, mixed, and conceptual/theoretical—and a diverse range of topics, including academic outcomes, affirmative action, early childhood development, critical race theory, bilingual education, school choice, and much more. Presentations can be filtered by keyword, method, chat function, and AERA division, SIG, or other submission unit. Users can also search by author, abstract, title, or institution.
Readers of Highlights from around the world are invited to visit the gallery frequently to search for presentations of topical interest, find relevant references, and connect with authors. Content from the 2020 inaugural presentations is just the beginning. The gallery will provide a virtual venue for sharing presentations from the 2021 Virtual AERA Annual Meeting and from other Annual Meetings and convenings in the years ahead.
“We are excited by the quality and diversity of research featured in the launch of this dynamic platform,” said Levine. “While the COVID-19 pandemic has brought much disruption to the work and lives of researchers, it has also provided an opportunity for innovation. This gallery offers unlimited potential for elevating the work of the field, fostering collaboration, and laying the foundations for the creation of new knowledge.”
