Dillingham Nominated for Census Bureau Directorship

On July 18, President Trump announced the nomination of Steven Dillingham to serve as the next director of the United States Census Bureau. The nomination requires Senate confirmation.

Dillingham has served in leadership roles at federal statistical agencies, as director of the Bureau of Justice Statistics and as director of the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. He is currently director of the Office of Strategic Information, Research, and Planning for the Peace Corps. Dillingham received his Ph.D. in political science from the University of South Carolina.

Ron Jarmin has served as acting director of the Census Bureau since the previous director, John Thompson, stepped down in June 2017.
