Message from the Chair

SIG Chair

Thank you for visiting the Supervision and Instructional Leadership SIG!

As a SIG, we welcome scholars, graduate students, and practitioners to present in professional forums and contribute to supervision and instructional leadership literature.  We encourage members of the SIG to submit to the Journal of Educational Supervision, an outlet that utilizes a rigorous peer review system for articles related to the field of supervision.

Nominations are being requested for the 2024 Distinguished Paper Award. If you have read, or written, a published or accepted paper this year that you feel deserves special recognition, please forward the name of the author and title of the paper to Dr. Megan Lynch at m.lynch@unf.eduby February 11. The award will be announced at the SIG business meeting and reception at AERA in Philadelphia.

The SIG is soliciting nominees (including self-nominees) for the position of Program Chair Elect, a two-year term beginning in 2024. The Program Chair Elect shall assume the office of Program Chair following the expiration of the term of the Program Chair.  They will assist the Program Chair in carrying out the responsibilities of that office. We are looking forward to an energizing and important meeting of the SIG at the Annual Meeting of AERA in Philadelphia this spring. Stay tuned for an in-person preconference event as well as an organizational conversation with members of the Council of Professors of Instructional Supervision (COPIS). As we continue to build strength within the educational supervision and leadership community, we welcome your valued participation.

And finally, if you haven’t done so already, this is a gentle reminder to renew your membership in  in the SIG for 2024. As you may know,  AERA conference program events, including catered receptions and awards, are made possible by the number of memberships in the SIG. We look forward to your continued support and participation.
