Alfredo Artiles to Give Brown Lecture
At AERA’s 2017 Brown Lecture in Education Research on October 19, Alfredo Artiles, the Ryan C. Harris Professor of Special Education and Dean of Graduate Education at Arizona State University, will examine long-standing challenges and risks associated with conducting and using research on complex equity problems.

The Commission on Evidence-Based Policymaking this month released its final report detailing legislative priorities and regulatory recommendations for evidence building and data management in the federal government.
House Fails to Introduce Amendment to Slash IES Funding, Budget Deal Reached for Start of FY 2018
A proposed amendment to the House omnibus appropriations bill for FY 2018 that would have slashed funding at the Institute of Education Sciences by $195 million was ultimately not introduced on the House floor during debate on September 13.
AAAS and AAU Hold Webinar on Scientific Storytelling
The lasting impact of storytelling was discussed with science researchers throughout the country during a September 6 webinar, “Golden Goose: Celebrating Science through Storytelling.”
