Online Registration and Housing Now Open for 2017 Annual Meeting
AERA is pleased to announce that registration and housing are now open for the 2017 AERA Annual Meeting. The meeting will take place in San Antonio, Texas, April 27 – May 1.
 
AERA Centennial Lecture Series Premieres in Brooklyn and Seattle
The AERA Centennial Lecture Series launched its first two lectures and open forums, with Patricia Gándara speaking in Brooklyn on November 30, and Bruce McCandliss speaking in Seattle on December 6.
 
Centennial Lecture Series Continues January 11 in Los Angeles with Bridget Terry LongRegister Now
The AERA Centennial Lecture Series, which aims to bring innovative education research and leading scholars to cities across the United States, will hold its third lecture and open forum on January 11, 2017, in Los Angeles, California.
 
 
Centennial RRE Volume Now Available
The 2016 volume of Review of Research in Education (RRE), titled Education Research: A Century of Discovery, is now available. Celebrating AERA’s Centennial, the printed volume has an expanded size and include 22 chapters that cover a vast terrain of education research topics.
 
RRE 2018 Editors Appointed, Call for Proposals Announced
Jeanne Powers, Gustavo Fischman, and Adai Tefera have been appointed coeditors for the 2018 edition (Volume 42) of Review of Research in Education (RRE).

AERA Submits Comments to Commission for Evidence-based Policymaking 
AERA submitted comments this month to the Commission for Evidence-based Policymaking in response to a request for comments to inform the commission’s work and provide feedback on core questions.
 
 
Congress Passes American Innovation and Competitiveness Act
In pro forma session, the House of Representatives approved the American Innovation and Competitiveness Act (AICA) under unanimous consent, sending it to President Barack Obama for signature on December 16.
 
 
Congress Advances Short-Term Spending Bill before Adjourning 
With little time to spare before the Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund the federal government ran out on December 9, Congress passed a bill to extend funding for the 2017 fiscal year (FY) through April 28, 2017.
