The AERA Council unanimously approved the endorsement of the Singapore Statement on Research Integrity during its February meeting. The Singapore Statement provides global guidance for the responsible conduct of research, covering 14 responsibilities and four general principles: honesty in all aspects of research, accountability in the conduct of research, professional courtesy and fairness in working with others, and good stewardship of research on behalf of others.

The AERA Ethics Committee advanced the Singapore Statement to the AERA Council, noting in its recommendation for endorsement that the statement is consistent with Principle B on Integrity in the AERA Code of Ethics. The committee also agreed that the AERA Code of Ethics and the Singapore Statement are compatible in promoting the ethical conduct of research.
