Welcome to the AERA Teaching Educational Psychology (TEP) Special Interest Group!

We are looking forward to seeing folks in Philadelphia or virtually for our hybrid conference! The leadership of our SIG has been discussing how we can engage members throughout the academic year, and how we can use the SIG as a place in which we share resources for teaching and recognize accomplishments in teaching and research related to the mission of the SIG.

Resource sharing and community building for educational psychology instructors

Speaking of engaging with the SIG throughout the year, please consider joining our private Facebook group or following us on Twitter to stay up to date on everything the SIG is doing.

Recognizing excellent teaching and scholarship in educational psychology

The Teaching Educational Psychology SIG has the opportunity to recognize excellent teaching practices in educational psychology, as well as individuals conducting research to improve the teaching of educational psychology. We are currently developing plans to create and share a member spotlight, which will recognize members of our SIG who are engaging in innovative teaching practices or who are using scholarship to improve our understanding of how to teach educational psychology.

If you have adopted a teaching approach or practice that you would like to share with other members of the SIG, we would love to hear from you! Or if you know of someone who is using innovative teaching practices, please consider nominating them for a member spotlight.

And, as always, please consider submitting your work to the AERA conference so that you can share it with other members of the SIG, as well as with the larger audience of AERA members.

Graduate student travel funding

The SIG executive committee approved plans to support graduate student members who are presenting at the annual conference with a travel award. This year, we acknowledged the work of four graduate student members presenting first-authored work with travel awards.

If you have a graduate student who is submitting to present at the conference, please encourage them to join our SIG when they become members of AERA.
