Faculty Teaching, Evaluation, and Development SIG 42

Message from SIG Chair

Dear SIG Members and Interested Parties,

We are grateful for your interest in the work of the Special Interest Group on Faculty Teaching, Evaluation and Development (SIG-FTED).  Our group seeks to promote theory, research, and practice related to development, evaluation, and improvement of postsecondary teaching and research. SIG-FTED dates back to 1976 and has a rich history of impactful contributions by leading researchers in this field.

Members of the SIG come from a wide range of institutions and roles, including graduate students, tenure line faculty, teaching faculty, educational developers, professional staff, and more. Our AERA sessions include symposia, paper sessions, roundtables, and posters. We also sponsor two prestigious awards that recognize scholarly contributions to the field of faculty teaching, evaluation, and/or development (W. J. McKeachie award for established scholars, Robert J. Menges award for new researchers). If you know someone who is doing outstanding work in areas related to the focus of the SIG, please do not hesitate to nominate them for recognition through these awards.

I welcome you to join our SIG, attend or present in our sessions, join us at meetings, volunteer as a reviewer, participate in SIG-sponsored activities, and join the leadership team in a service role.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
