Advocacy Working Group

This newly restarted working group will explore the various forms of advocacy of researchers, teachers, community members, families, and students in relation to multilingual learners, educational programs, instructional practices, and policies. The group is very important in today's "post-truth" era. We believe in the power of working together and would like to help our members share their advocacy efforts, as well as expand our reach by providing information on other possible advocacy routes at the local, state and federal levels.

Mentoring Working Group

The Mentoring Working Group of the BER aims to support doctoral candidates and junior scholars by facilitating connections with more experienced and knowledgeable senior scholars, unveiling hidden discourses within the academy, and creating constructive discursive spaces for all to come together to continue to move the research in our field forward.

Newsletter Working Group

The BER Newsletter Working Group aims to identify and share timely information to the members of the BER SIG at the local, national, and international levels. The newsletter reflects the linguistic and cultural diversity of the BER members and broader society, and works in collaboration with other SIG groups to build communication, collegiality, and collaborations across members.

Social Media Group

The Social Media Working Group of the BER works to using social media outlets, such as Facebook and Twitter, to serve the community of the BER. Specifically, our aims are to raise awareness of the good work members of the BER are doing and to increase communication, collegiality and collaborations across the BER community. We use social media to post news and information, as well as highlight policy and advocacy events that are of interest to our members.
