Update: NCES to Hire Five Researchers Beginning August 15

July 2019

The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) will be hiring up to five researchers through USAJOBS starting on August 15. Staff hired into these positions will join research teams across a number of different projects, including surveys of college students about how they finance their education, annual census data collections from the nation’s postsecondary institutions, an annual census gathering information about U.S. public elementary and secondary schools and school systems, statistical standards across all of NCES operations, and report development from the full array of studies undertaken by NCES.

“It is great news that NCES has authorization to make five new hires,” said AERA Executive Director Felice J. Levine. “We encourage well-qualified candidates with appropriate education research backgrounds to consider applying to this most important statistical agency and the rewards of such professional public service.”

The positions will be permanent general schedule positions at either the GS-11 or GS-12 level with salaries starting in the $69,000 to $83,000 range with full benefits. To fill these job openings, NCES is seeking students who have just completed their graduate education (or will do so in the next few months) and researchers with advanced degrees who have had some experience managing research projects.

Successful candidates will have a strong background in statistics. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. The positions are in the NCES Washington, DC office.  The job openings will be posted at USAJOBS (https://www.usajobs.gov/) beginning on August 15 and can be found by searching for IES-2019-0018 and IES-2019-0020.

Interested candidates are urged to open an account with USAJOBS and upload a resume. USAJOBS will only accept the first 75 applications once the job announcement is made and the posting will close on September 5 should the limit not be reached earlier.
