AERA Nominating Committee for the SIG Executive Committee Seeks Recommendations — Deadline: August 30
The AERA Nominating Committee for the SIG Executive Committee seeks recommendations for well-qualified candidates for two at-large positions during the 2018 election. The deadline for submitting nominations for AERA-wide offices is also extended to August 30.
Attendees Advance Issues at AERA-NSF Data Sharing and Research Transparency Workshop
More than 60 participants, including representatives from 13 associations and 18 journals, gathered in Washington, D.C., on July 25–27 for an intensive workshop on data sharing and research transparency at the article publishing stage.
AERA and WERA Convene the Second Meeting of Education Research Associations in the Americas
On May 1 in San Antonio, Texas, the American Educational Research Association, in cooperation with the World Education Research Association, held the second Meeting of the Education Research Associations in the Americas.
AERA Webcasts on Communicating Locally with Federal Policymakers Now Available
AERA offered two webinars in July to provide guidance and tips for members interested in visiting local congressional offices while Congress is on recess in August, to highlight the value of education research.

Flurry of Congressional Activity on FY 2018 Appropriations
July was a busy month for the House and Senate appropriations committees. Both chambers moved legislation to fund federal agencies for the 2018 fiscal year, which begins on October 1.
