Federal Research Agency Websites Impacted by Government Shutdown

Due to the government shutdown this morning, the webpages for the
National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Institute of Education Sciences(IES) have been closed to the general public, including grant recipients and applicants, researchers, and reviewers of federal proposals. Last night, Congress failed to pass a continuing resolution bill to fund the federal government beyond the end of the 2013 fiscal year.

The NSF website notes that FastLane and Research.gov also will be unavailable until Congress passes an appropriations bill. In addition, no new funding opportunities will be announced, and no payments will be processed for awards. Review panels scheduled to occur during the duration of the government shutdown will be postponed.

The website for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is currently accessible; however, no new information will be available until appropriations are made. NIH released guidance for grantees this morning on its operations during the government shutdown.
