Welcome to the AERA Music Education SIG!

We are one of four SIGs related to the arts, and the only one devoted exclusively to music teaching and learning. We are a strong, welcoming scholarly community (which should not be surprising given our shared backgrounds as music teachers). We are seeking members who represent the diverse backgrounds of music education scholars and practitioners.  Whether your research focuses upon qualitative or quantitative methods, we welcome the opportunity to learn more about your research. We invite a wide variety scholarship that addresses any questions related to music education. Our SIG also provides numerous opportunities for its members to serve the profession. In addition, AERA serves its members through wonderful professional development opportunities that are not available with other organizations.

I have  grown in the profession through my service in AERA as a SIG reviewer, on SIG committees, and as an officer. Regardless of how you participate, you will gain much from membership in the Music Education SIG, and the rest of the community will undoubtedly benefit from your participation.
