A Profile of Public School Biology Teachers in the USA
FINAL REPORT:
This article was an effort to gather as much information as possible within a short time frame to illustrate what is known about teachers of biology in grades 7-12. This profile of biology teachers may serve as a basis for others in making logical decisions concerning the background of biology teachers in the early 90's, how well they appear to be prepared in both the physical and life sciences, who does the preparation, and what trends we might expect in the future. Information in this study was obtained from a variety of sources. However, the NCES Schools and Staffing Survey (SASS) served as the primary source of data for this report.
