Welcome to the Policy and Politics Division (L) of AERA! Our Division brings together researchers from all disciplines and professional areas interested in understanding how established policy effects educational organizations, the students and educators they serve and the societies in which they exist and in understanding how policy is formulated, enacted and implemented. Our membership includes researchers from all levels and sectors of public, private and informal learning organizations and professionals interested in improving their practice through the application of research.

Our membership is currently slightly over 2000, making Division L the fifth largest of the 11 Divisions within AERA. It includes college and university professors, teachers and administrators in K-12 and higher education, and policy analysts and policy makers at the local, state, national and international arenas. A substantial portion of our membership is graduate students and we work hard to provide special activities designed to improve their analytic skills in policy research and their advancement within the professional community.
